The ability to choose between different locations is very important for us, as we’re working with an ecommerce client that shows different content based on locations for specific countries. We’re already comparing competitor testing solutions, but i’d really like to stay with BugBug as we love the simple and intuitive interface.

Hey @moritz.bappert I understand that, but the problem is that we have customers all over the world. To meet this requirement, we have to set up a proxy for almost every country in the world, which is very expensive and complex. Which countries do you need to test sites for?

Thanks for your reply, @Paweł Bylina. Our list of countries would be quite long, starting with the USA, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Mexico, Canada and mostly lots of European countries…
Maybe you could come up with some workaround? I wonder whether there exists some service that would route traffic through a different IP/location where you could access a site via an online service supplying the url via a parameter? Like https://someservice.io/country=fr&url=…

You can find proxy services for web browsers, but this is also a potential security issue if we use them. Do you really need to test in every location? If you want to test the IP detection mechanism, 2 locations may be good enough. What’s your use case?

We can definitely go with a more pragmatic approach here. Although it would still be useful for us to be able to do cloud runs via a German IP: otherwise we always get shown an overlay, that we don’t get when testing locally from Germany. We would need to implement a step into our testcases that closes this overlay in the beginning, which must not fail if the overlay isn’t there, when testing locally.
Let’s see whether we can implement this without custom JavaScript. Conditionals would be useful for this. ;)

OK, thanks for letting me know.
Today you can use custom JS or record the "click" step with the "continue on failure" checkbox checked. That should do the trick.
